Biofilm Growth in Water Tanks and Filter Housings

An accumulation of microbial bacterial growth in a thin film attached on the interior surface of water storage tanks, filter housings and systems. Biofilm creates a slippery and slimy feeling coating on the inside of a filter housing.  It also often smells like old gym socks.  The film may prevent the effectivness of disinfectants and sanitizers.  When biofilms are present the container may need to be physically washed or sanitized several times.
